Hendog reveals new artwork in local hospital
A new piece or artwork has been installed on the children’s ward of a local hospital to help create a welcoming environment for young patients and their families.
Northbrook staff with Lost Bear
Famous for his Banksy style street art, anonymous Hampshire based street artist Hendog has unveiled his latest creation on the walls of the Northbrook ward at the Royal Hampshire Hospital in Winchester.
The large black and white image depicts a teddy bear on crutches, with its right leg in a cast and his head bandaged.
Talking about the piece which has been donated to Hampshire Hospitals Charity for the benefit of young patients, elusive artist Hendog said; “It’s an honour to be able to share Lost Bear with the children’s ward. I’m hoping it brightens up the space for patients, families and staff. I couldn’t have hoped for a better home for him.”
As the face behind the art continues to remain a mystery, the piece was unveiled by members of the nursing team from the ward.
Morgan Hughes, fundraising assistant at Hampshire Hospitals Charity, said; “We’re absolutely over the moon so have such a piece of artwork donated to us. For the eagle-eyed amongst you who have visited our hospitals, you’ll have seen some of his previous work which popped up to thank NHS staff during the pandemic. Hendog is a long-time supporter of the charity, and this donation is another wonderful way that he’s helping to brighten up our wards for our patients.”
Local business, Memco Framing, have framed the piece to ensure the artwork is protected and adheres to infection control measures so the piece can be enjoyed by all patients for years to come.
