The Forget Me Not Fund
The heart-breaking loss of a baby is unimaginable and those who experience it often feel alone. However, at Hampshire Hospitals, that’s not the case, thanks to Hampshire Hospitals Charity which has been working with the maternity bereavement team over recent years to help fund vital support that offers a lifeline to parents who have lost a baby.
Hampshire Hospital’s maternity bereavement service was created in 2000 to support those who experience the loss of a baby from 12 weeks into the pregnancy, to 28 days after birth, and the support of our community is vital in helping to offer these much-needed services.
Funds raised through Hampshire Hospitals Charity are used to support parents in a variety of ways to ensure they don't feel isolated. Your generous donations will help provide families with emotional and psychological support and could include:
Group sessions
Holistic therapies
A football team for dads
Equipment or soft furnishings for our butterfly suite
Memory boxes, including kits to produce hand and/ or footprints
And other vital resources
By donating to our Forget Me Not Fund, you're helping to support parents through the toughest of times.
Family accommodation for PMI patients
The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute (PMI) specialises in surgery for cancers that spread to the peritoneum, with Basingstoke being one of few UK centres offering this treatment. As one of the most experienced international centres, patients are referred from across the country with many travelling significant distances for this specialist treatment.
This major surgery requires intensive care and a hospital stay of two to three weeks. With support from Hampshire Hospitals Charity, free on-site accommodation is provided for a family member or loved one, helping patients feel supported throughout recovery.
Research shows family presence reduces stress, speeds recovery, and shortens hospital stays, while also ensuring patients from all backgrounds can benefit from vital support.
