Miles that Matter
Every day and night our Winchester theatre teams perform life-saving procedures with focus, precision, and care. But the one space they rely on to rest and recover during long shifts needs to be refurbished to create a suitable space for breaks.
To support them, we’ve launched Miles That Matter, a fitness fundraiser that will help us raise the funds need to complete a full refurbishment of this vital space to create a comfortable, communal area where our valued staff can truly rest and recharge.
To take part, we’re asking our supporters to complete 4,230 miles however they choose - walk, run, swim, row, or a combination of them all. And don’t panic, you don’t have to complete them all by yourself. You can come together as a group to reach the final target.
Why 4,230 miles you ask? This reflects the number of life changing and life saving operations our dedicated theatres team completes in a year. You’ll therefore complete a mile for every procedure undertaken.
How does it work?
Create your individual or group JustGiving page here. You’ll be able to set your own target and see your progress, and how everyone is working together to reach our fundraising goal of £10,000 towards our theatres refurbishment.
Seek out sponsorship from your networks. This could be for each mile completed or a one off donation in support of the challenge.
Complete 4,230 miles in four weeks.
Record your daily miles, the names of those who have completed them (if you’re working together as a group) and how, whether they swim, run, cycle, or row their way through this challenge.
Post your progress and videos to your social media channels, tagging in Hampshire Hospitals Charity and #MilesThatMatter so we can cheer you on as you make progress.
