Host a tea party to support your local NHS
The NHS marks its 77th birthday on Saturday 5 July 2025 and to celebrate, one local charity is encouraging people to host their own NHS Big Tea party to help raise funds for projects supporting patients and staff.
Much loved by the British pubic, every day, the NHS treats over a million people in England. Founded in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all, free at the point of delivery. Since then, the NHS has innovated and adapted to meet the needs of each generation. And now is the time to celebrate everything the NHS means to our community.
Hampshire Hospitals Charity is asking local people to get creative by hosting their very own NHS Big Tea party to raise funds to support projects across their hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover. All the money raised will go towards providing equipment and support to staff and patients to help enhance spaces and ensure visiting and working in our hospitals is a good experience for everyone.
Morgan Hughes, fundraising assistant at the charity, said; “Fundraising should be fun so let your imagination run wild! You could host a tea party for friends and family in your garden, plan a cake sale, homemade or shop bought, at your workplace or run your very own team bake off with your community group.
“Hampshire Hospitals serves a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of west Berkshire. As their charity, we raise funds to support patients, staff and volunteers through a range of projects and the money you raise could help refurbish and brighten wards, provide equipment, fund staff welfare initiatives and so much more.”
While the charity would like to see tea parties hosted on the NHS’s birthday on Saturday 5 July, they’d also like to spread the celebrations across the week running up to it and is asking people to join in by hosting their NHS Big Tea party any time between Monday 30 June to Sunday 6 July.
