Local charity announces return of comedy night fundraiser
If you enjoy a good belly laugh then a local charity has just announced an event you’ll not want to miss.
Last year’s comedy night was such a success, it’s coming back in 2026.
Following its first comedy night last year, Hampshire Hospitals Charity has confirmed that the popular fundraiser will return to Basingstoke on Friday 27 February 2026, bringing an evening of laughter to town to support your local hospitals.
After the success of last year’s event, this year’s comedy night promises even more fun as comedy fans unite to raise funds for the local charity dedicated to enhancing the experience of visiting hospital for patients throughout hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover.
Sabrina Marsden, fundraising manager at Hampshire Hospitals Charity, said; “We were so delighted at the feedback we had from our first comedy night that we’ve decided to do it all again. Last year’s much applauded host will return with a refreshed line up of talent to entertain the crowd and all money raised will be used by the charity to support a variety of projects that will benefit both staff and patients in our hospitals.
James Alderson will return with a stellar line-up of acts on Friday 27 February
“For those looking for last minute Christmas gift ideas, the event also makes an ideal gift, giving your recipient something to open on Christmas Day and something to look forward to in the new year.”
The night will feature a stellar line-up of professional comedians, with special performances by Andrew Bird, star of The Russell Howard Hour, David Arnold, finalist in Ricky Gervais’ comedy competition and Jo Caulfield, a seasoned comic seen on Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week and House of Games. Hosting the evening’s entertainment is award-winning compere James Alderson, renowned for his energetic stage presence and expert crowd engagement.
The event will take place from 7pm at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) and tickets are priced at £18 each. The event is suitable for adults aged over 18 only and attendees are encouraged to book early to secure their seats for a night of top-tier comedy.
This comedy night is kindly supported by Richard Pearce Wealth Management whose backing helps ensure that more of every ticket sale goes directly to fund hospital improvements. Richard Pearce said; “Sponsoring this comedy night with Hampshire Hospitals Charity means a great deal to me. Our local hospitals have given my family incredible care and compassion when we needed it most, and this is my way of giving something back. I also happen to love comedy, and there’s something really special about bringing people together through laughter, connection and a shared purpose. To be able to raise funds for such an incredible charity, while enjoying a night that lifts spirits and unites our community, feels truly powerful.”
Hampshire Hospitals Charity plays a vital role in enhancing care in our local hospitals. Through community fundraising initiatives and supporter events like this, the charity helps fund essential equipment, wellbeing projects and improved facilities that make a real difference to patients, staff and families.
